Norlandair provides a crucial air link to one of the most remote parts of East Greenland by operating flights from Reykjavik’s domestic airport to Nerlerit Inaat (CNP)—the international airport serving Ittoqqortoormiit. This service runs on a seasonally adjusted schedule, typically departing once or twice a week and including a stopover in Akureyri.
Thanks to Norlandair, both adventure-seekers and local residents gain consistent access to Ittoqqortoormiit’s vast wilderness and the nearby Scoresby Sound, home to some of the world’s largest fjords and spectacular Arctic landscapes.
On this route, Norlandair relies on the dependable De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter, which can accommodate up to 19 passengers.
Its compact size and short takeoff and landing capabilities make it ideal for flying in and out of Nerlerit Inaat’s remote airstrip, especially given East Greenland’s challenging weather conditions. By maintaining this connection, Norlandair not only enables unique travel experiences for visitors but also supports the local communities relying on consistent year-round transportation and vital cargo deliveries.
